Disneyland Birthday Confetti Wishes

My daughter wished to celebrate her 16th Birthday at Disneyland this year. She took her best friend who had never been to Disneyland before. They made some unforgettable memories and I had the task of preserving those memories!

I chose to use the Confetti Wishes paper and complements collection. All of the bright colors were perfect for the Disneyland rides and attractions. These girls are obsessed with social media like Instagram that I wanted to incorporate the same feel to the pages. I framed each photograph like an Instax picture. This allowed me to do several smaller pictures on one layout and also gave me little white spaces to journal. I used some of the complements to title and embellish. I also cut some new Washi tape and  used them like tags on the page. (you will see more of these in April!) I ended up using a total of 8 different stamp sets, new & old, to add little sentiments and images!

A Quick Note: Hello

Freshly Made Sketches had a simple, clean sketch this week that I had to give a try. I also got a head start on creating some fun cards using April's Stamp of the Month, Typed Note. {come back April 1st for more details} I even dragged out my dusty old typewriter to use as a photo prop!

BTW~ You might just see something else on this card that is brand new!! Look closely!

Watercolor Butterfly

Last week I decided to get out some really old watercolor paper. I wanted to experiment with some water coloring using our stamps and re-inkers. After a couple attempts I liked one of the images and created a card with it.

I am submitting this card to Heart 2 Heart Challenges this week for their "green with envy" theme! Be sure to stop by their blog to see all the fabulous green artwork! I chose to feature Pear for my green! It's so bright and happy!

To make the butterfly I lightly misted my watercolor paper with water. Then I put a few drops of Lagoon and Pear re-inker on a plastic saucer and gently mixed them so they were touching. Then I stamped the butterfly image in the ink and stamped it on the watercolor paper. The inks will bleed into the paper. I then dried it with my heat tool. Lastly, I stamped the butterfly in black ink and cut it out.

I'm sure there are all sorts of ways to achieve a "watercolor look". I was simply just playing and experimenting and I suggest that you try whatever you like. Who know what you'll discover and the best part is you'll have fun!

March Crate Card Club with a Summer Preview

Spring truly arrived this weekend bringing wonderfully warm weather. At my Crate Card Club meeting this Saturday I had all the windows open allowing the fresh air and sunshine in, as well as my talented CCC members! Our cards included a few Birthday themes, Easter and St. Patrick's day. As always it was a mix of colors, embellishments, papers and stamps!

Participants were also given their very first look at the new Seasonal Expression 2 publication and some of the new products inside.

This first card is my own. I wanted to show them how to paper piece this cupcake card cut out on the Artfully Sent cartridge. I went with a Birthday theme as March is a big month for Birthday's in my family. I also showed them how quick and easy it is to color silver sequins with our Shin Han Touch Markers. Such a cool technique, making a great product even more versatile!

I had the new Seasonal Expressions 2 book on display with some strawberries inspired by the front cover. These cuties are cut on the Artiste cartridge as is the basket they are in. I cut them smaller than shown on the book which made it a little tricky to assemble. They still look cute and made the display complete.

Sweet Hopscotch

I have a couple of really sweet treats for you today. I was playing with an upcoming stamp of the month that was just asking to be inked. I eventually put some of the stamped images with scraps of Hopscotch paper that I had laying around. What a sweet combination this turned out to be! Check it out~

This first card is just dog gone cute!! I don't make enough long cards, they are so much fun and unique! I used the waterbrush and some inks to color in the pooch. Isn't that extra thick Pixie twine awesome....wait until you see the new colors coming soon!

I purchased this stamp set for the cute images, but mostly I had to have this sentiment! I water colored the ice cream, but it just wasn't enough. The glitter was perfect....not that I would actually eat glittery ice cream, ewww!

You can get the stamp of the month Ice Cream Dream {S1506} in June, however if you want to create adorable cards with the Hopscotch paper you need to purchase your Hopscotch collection before the end of March. Remember the paper collections and other time sensitive items will only be available until March 31st. Order with me or shop online here.

Happy creating and be sure to save room for ice cream!

Confetti Wishes Zip Strip Card

I saw this idea online, but can't recall the originator. It was just such a simply brilliant idea that I locked the inspiration in my mind and finally sat down to create it. This card contains all the papers found in the Confetti Wishes paper collection. It also uses one of the zip strips with catch phrases that are all about celebrating Birthdays! You can practically make this card from your scraps, just be sure to save those zip strips, they are so useful!

Brushed Beautiful Layout and Box

The Brushed paper collection features some gorgeous vivid colors and floral patterns. I think what I like the most about the papers are the black outline which lends itself to additional stamping in black ink. Here is a layout option I created from a workshop and added in a little box cut on the Cricut. What a cute little addition to the ensemble!
